Background

stc Bahrain held an executive forum with technology experts from Amazon Web Services (AWS), Fortinet and StrikeReady to discuss issues related to cloud security and cyber-resilience in businesses operating in the cloud. The forum was entitled “Smarter Cloud, Stronger Defenses.”

Experts at the event stated that cybersecurity can no longer be considered an IT-only issue as more businesses move important tasks to cloud platforms and use AI tools. Business leaders now treat it as a core strategic priority.

Moving to the cloud creates new security risks. Such measures include securing sensitive information, user identities, and counteracting cyber attacks of a higher caliber. The speakers agreed that for organizations to be secure, cloud security, threat detection, and real-time responses must be integrated into their security framework.

Artificial intelligence is revolutionizing cybersecurity efforts from both angles. Organizations are making use of artificial intelligence to detect any threat faster and react faster in case of attacks. On the other hand, hackers are utilizing artificial intelligence to create smarter and more difficult attacks.

The event is also connected to Bahrain’s drive towards becoming a digital hub. Bahrain has been investing in cloud computing services, digital government, and fintech. stc Bahrain is positioning itself not just as a provider of telecommunication services but also of cybersecurity and digital services to businesses.

It is a reflection of the cross-sector cooperation that Bahrain will need for the creation of a secure digital economy.
