Background 

At this year’s MEA Business Achievement Awards in Dubai, Batelco by Beyon, Bahrain’s leading telecom provider, won the AI Exceptional Products and Services Achievement Award. 

The honour goes to Basma, the company’s AI-powered assistant that now handles a large share of customer interactions. Basma moves past the usual scripted chatbot setup. It reads what a customer actually wants, holds a real conversation, and guides them through smoothly, rather than forcing them down a fixed menu of options. 

The assistant does more than answer questions. It can also carry out sales and support tasks on its own, cutting out extra steps for the customer. Batelco by Beyon says Basma now manages thousands of conversations every day, solving many issues without human involvement and cutting down how long customers wait for help. 

Company leaders point to Basma as proof that AI can move past pilot projects and start producing real results. It fits into a wider effort at Beyon to make AI part of daily operations, not just a side experiment, to drive growth and sharper performance across the business. 

The MEA Business Achievement Awards single out companies across the Middle East and Africa that stand out for innovation and strong leadership. The AI category specifically looks for firms that have rolled out AI tools with real, measurable payoff for the business and its customers.
