Background

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) AI chip manufacturer Cerebras Systems has declared to set up its advanced AI infrastructure for the Stargate project in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The UAE technology company G42 is leading the project to build one of the world’s most powerful AI supercomputing centers, making the Middle East a global leader in artificial intelligence.

As part of this partnership, Cerebras will supply high-performance computing systems that can train and run large language models (LLMs) and generative AI tools on a large scale. The deployment will take place under the first phase of the Stargate AI campus, which is expected to begin operations by 2026 with a 200-megawatt capacity.

Cerebras CEO Andrew Feldman said the company is deploying powerful hardware and software to support the world’s most demanding AI workloads. This move marks Cerebras’ expansion into the Middle East, following earlier collaborations with G42 that were previously limited to the U.S. due to export restrictions.

The Stargate project is being developed in partnership with leading global tech firms such as Nvidia, OpenAI, and Oracle. The center will also serve nearby markets like India, Pakistan, and other parts of the Asia-Pacific.

While the partnership strengthens global AI cooperation, it also faces export control challenges, as U.S. licensing rules will determine how quickly Cerebras can complete its deployment. Despite these hurdles, the company continues to grow, recently raising $1.1 billion in funding and reaching a valuation of $8.1 billion.

Stargate is viewed as a component of the UAE in its mission to become a global AI leader, where the infrastructure powerhouse will serve industries including healthcare, finance, logistics, and smart cities within the region.
