Qatar Airways launched a new fidelity program called Privilege Club Pro, a yearly subscription program aimed at enhancing the frequent leaflet experience. Designed for pamphlets who wish to earn Avios and Qpoints on an ongoing base, the program is available encyclopedically via the airline’s website and mobile app. There are four class options to choose from — Access, Select, Exclusive, and Ultimate and yearly subscription freights ranging from$ 50 to$ 350. Members can subscribe up.
Each tier rewards a set number of Avios per month, ranging from 2,500 to 20,000. Ultimate, the top tier, also rewards 5 Qpoints per month, helping subscribers progress toward elite membership. Annually paid members receive a discount equaling two months free, which is nearly 17% in total savings. The Avios and the Qpoints are rewarded monthly, however, and there has to be a minimum three-month subscription.
As for value, Privilege Club Pro costs between 1.33 and 2 US cents per Avios depending on tier chosen and billing cycle. While this scheme promises a steady flow of points, it is not always the best value in comparison with short-term Avios sales or credit card spend promotions, which can be higher at times.
In addition, the plan limiting Avios earnings to 240,000 a year is just below the 250,000 limit for purchasing Avios directly. While the scheme ensures predictability, it may not be suitable for travelers who need a large quantity of Avios upfront for high-cost redemption awards. The Qpoints privilege to the Ultimate level provides an additional 60 points annually, which is even lower than that required for Silver, Gold, or Platinum status.
While Privilege Club Pro does introduce a systematized means of accumulating rewards, Qatar Airways can further complement the offer with value-added features like free change in booking or cancellation waiver to enhance the attraction of the subscription benefit for savvy travelers.
